Item Description

Bet you never thought you would find a pen with such an adorable mini-ellie on it!  This is a modern yet elegant Carbara twist pen model with 24kt gold plate hardware. It measures about 12.5 cm (just under 5") and you simply twist it towards you to open and away to retract it.  It is hand turned and polished on a lathe by John Baker to generate funds for Wildlife SOS. The body of the pen is acrylic with a tiny grey elephant that has been scrolled and embedded into a cream background with beautiful flecks and swirls of metallic copper and occasional green ones as well.  After it was turned on the lathe and polished (with carnuba wax which is extremely durable and polishes into a high gloss), then the elephant was embellished with some outlining details which were hand carved with a Foredom rotatory tool and then painted. Not an easy task given the curved slippery surface of the pen and the very miniature size of the ellie! The elephant was then re-waxed and polished with the Foredom and a mini-polisher. It comes in its own velveteen drawstring pouch.  (Note: you will NOT have to re-polish with the carnuba-it lasts for years).

The pen comes with an unmarked black ink cartridge but takes easily obtained Parker Style Ball Point, Gel Ink or Schmidt Easy Flow 9000 refills.
