Permanent exhibits at the museum include:
- World’s First Airline Gallery, which traces the story of commercial aviation from its inception in St. Petersburg on January 1, 1914 and features a full-size working replica of the Benoist Airboat.
- Schrader’s Little Cooperstown, a world-class baseball exhibit that includes the largest private collection of autographed baseballs in the world.
The museum also offers temporary exhibits and is home to the city's archives. Founded in 1921, the St. Petersburg Museum of History was the first museum in St. Petersburg and is the third-oldest historical museum in Florida. The museum has collected and preserved over 30,000 artifacts of the history and prehistory of St. Petersburg, the State of Florida and the Pinellas Peninsula during the last 90 years.
