About the Artist:

Maren Morgan is an artist and student at the University of Utah. She has found much of her inspiration from her travels to Nepal and Cambodia, as well as India, where she visited the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Center in Mathura. Here, many elephants that used to spend their days doing hard labor in often harsh conditions are living out their retirement years in peace and safety. The photo is of Maren with one of these majestic creatures, who are final able to spend their days happily with long walks, frequent baths, nutritious diets, and good veterinary care.

In Mathura, Maren developed a deep love for these animals, and she continues to advocate for their spirit and rights with those she encounters. She is inspired by the jungles of Southeast Asia and their Buddhist culture, as well as the Himalayas and Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism of Nepal.
