Item Description

The Mysterious Red Fruit - Le Mystérieux Fruit Rouge, has been signed by the author and is intended for parents wanting to tell their children a fable with an embedded moral. The story depicts a young kangaroo named Jorgi wishing to eat an intriguing fruit ill-suited for kangaroos. Despite his parents’ warnings, Jorgi somehow gets his paws on his prized treasure and eats it with dire consequences.

The colorful images are beautifully illustrated by Steve Cady, which come to life with a built-in augmented reality (AR) function that offers an immersion in the drawings, allowing for sounds and effects when you hold your smartphone or tablet over the colored illustrations and click on the different animal characters.  It also allows the display of a Spanish translation between the English and French text when you hold your smartphone over the black and white image on the text page.

Note: The augmented reality will be available to the winning bidder through end of July.

About the Author:

As the sixth child in a family of 15, I'm accustomed to self-sufficiency, being happy with little and sharing. Self-taught, I learned all about stop-motion animation at 16 years of age while experimenting with Super 8 films. I have since traversed various fields, from ad shooting, film special effects to user interface design.

I began my career as a stop-motion artist, which led me to experiment with animation software development for over nine years at SOFTIMAGE. During this time, exposure to the movie business led me to try my hand with special effects and, for the next 12 years, I worked as a computer graphics supervisor at Quebec-based visual effects studio Hybride, a Ubisoft® division.

Notable work during this time includes assignments on over 30 movies including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avatar and The Hunger Games.

Today, I joyfully write fables for young children.
