Item Description

Tennis lesson with Coach Erica, professional tennis coach based at Alta Vista tennis facility.

Erica Schweyer was introduced to the wonderful game of tennis at 3 years old. As the daughter of a Tennis Professional, she was fortunate to be introduced to the game of tennis at a very young age. As a young athlete she enjoyed playing many sports but ultimately committed herself to tennis.  After several years of competing in USTA open level junior tournaments, she decided to fully commit herself to the game by moving from Southern California to Florida to join the Rick Macci Tennis Academy. She received a partial scholarship to train full time under tutelage of Rick Macci, coach of tennis greats Jennifer Capriati and the Williams sisters.  Her tennis journey eventually led her back to the South Bay where she played Varsity tennis for Mira Costa and Peninsula High School. While playing for Peninsula, she and her doubles partner were named L.A. Times All Star Girl's Tennis Team after winning the CIF Doubles Championship in 2003.

In 2005 she signed on to play tennis for Division 1 Arizona State University. Go Sundevils! While playing in college she began to teach private and group lessons to players of all ages at the Arizona Country Club. After graduating college with a Bachelor's in Nursing in 2011, she moved back to Redondo Beach and began working at the Manhattan Country Club as their Tennis Coordinator and also assisted in all Elite junior tennis programs as a Tennis Professional. Fast forward one year later, she also had the amazing privilege of going back to her old high school Mira Costa as an Assistant Coach for the girl's tennis team! In 2015 she received USPTR certification specifically focused on the development of players 10 and under. Although she loves teaching players of all ages, there is something truly special about getting young kids to fall in love with a game they can enjoy for their whole life.
