Item Description

From the archive of the Kona Historical Society, this beautiful photo was printed on canvas. "The amana or y-shaped post placed in the center of a pen was very useful in working cattle. Portuguese dairymen referred to the post as poo waiu literally translated as “head (of) milk cow.” The cows head was tied to the poo waiu to secure them for milking. This particular amana post is at Palenaaina on W.H. Greenwell Ranch. Photograph by Megan Mitchell, 1978." This photo was featured in the exhibit, Kona Ranching and Kona Cowboys: Our Way of Life

It measures 16"x11", the canvas is a cotton/poly blend and it has a UV resistant coating.
