Item Description
Title: Ride the Wave
Artist Inspiration: Katsushika Hokusai, 1760-1849, Japanese
Description: The first and second graders in Mrs. McCamy’s class had studied the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai and created paintings inspired by his famous woodcut “The Great Wave”. They used this piece of art to inspire waves on the side panels of the table. There are three waves much like the wave in the woodcut. The blue crests and white foam surrounds the water. To finish out the piece, the students used color, shape and design in a playful, whimsical fashion. Every student in our class was able to put their artistic flair onto the table. They had fun in creating our class art piece for the auction.
Medium: Wood table painted with acrylic paint.
Dimensions: 14”x14”x27.5
*A special 'thanks' to JoAnne McCamy and Kim Bradwell for their help on this project.
