Item Description
Title: Under the Sea
Artist Inspiration: Henri Matisse, 1869-1954, French
Description: Inspired by the “cut out” paintings of Henri Matisse and his ability to “draw with scissors,” the children were able to create a work that reminded them of the California Pacific Ocean sea plants and coral.
Medium: Each child was given a small piece of canvas and acrylic paints. They were given the freedom to mix various colors and apply the paint however they chose. The canvases were then cut and glued to a larger gallery wrapped canvas and coated with a gel medium.
Dimensions: 24”x30”
*A special 'thanks' to Heidi Prather and Inger Taylor for their help on this project.
