Item Description
Title: Beach, Sun, Sand, Relax, Conserve
Artist Inspiration: Robert Wyland, 1956- , American
Description: Mrs. Curriden’s 3rd graders were inspired by Robert Wyland’s coastal themed artwork. They chose to create miniature paintings depicting some of California’s Pacific treasures.
Wyland is a renowned marine life artist who has changed the way people think about our environment. The Wyland name has become synonymous with the new generation of awareness about environmental conservation. Wyland inspired Mrs. Curriden's third graders and each child chose a sea animal or shell to portray that was either on the conservation or endangered list.
Dolphins, shells, coral, and sunsets are among some of the many different paintings creating the larger compilation artwork.
Medium: Acrylic paint on wood. The wood paintings and some shells were glued to a larger piece of wood and covered with a shellac.
