Item Description

From the archive of the Kona Historical Society, this beautiful photo, printed on canvas, is of "Kailua Village as seen from the second story of the Hackfield building near the pier. Kaiakeakua Beach is fitted out for cattle shipping with a temporary cattle holding pen. Elmer Child was quoted as saying that there was a larger holding pen up around the corner of Palani Road and Kuakini Hwy. junction where the ranchers held cattle before moving them to this smaller pen. About 60 cattle would be held there and about 10 would be moved at a time to await shipping." It was featured in the exhibit, Kona Ranching and Kona Cowboys: Our Way of Life

It measures 18"x11", the canvas is a cotton/poly blend and it has a UV resistant coating.
