Item Description

This private and detailed tour of Gettysburg, the American Civil War's most famous and bloodiest battle, begins at Herr's Ridge, where the Union cavalry fired the first shots of the battle. Guiding (and driving you) through the 5,989 acre park will be Roger Kaplan, a retired Army officer who served as an assistant professor of military history at the US Military Academy and later as Chief of Historical Services at the Army's Center of Military History. Bring your family or friends, because the tour is for up to four people. Expiration date is November 15, 2017 (excluding summer dates from June 19th - September 8th due to crowds).Tour lasts from 4-8 hours based on the winners preference.

So you can bone up on the battle before you go and remember your tour afterward, we've included a copy of Stars in their Courses by historian Shelby Foote. As one reviewer wrote, "Mr. Foote is something of a folk hero to people who love reading civil war history. Read this, the central chapter of his magnificent three-volume narrative, and you'll understand why. In one modestly sized book, Shelby Foote explains more of how and what happened during the three-day battle than many books five times its size."
