What is Xeomin and How Does It Work?
Manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals, Xeomin works like Botox and Dysport when used to treat wrinkles on the face. These cosmetic treatments are injected into muscles to make the skin more smooth and flexible therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It achieves a similar result as dermal facial fillers.
While there are definite similarities between Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, there are some significant differences that Xeomin exhibits:
For instance, Xeomin does not require refrigeration.
Another difference is Xeomin is referred to as "naked" because it is only made from "botulinum toxin type A" whereas the other treatments include other additives.
Botox and Dysport can potentially cause an allergic reaction due to the presence of proteins. Xeomin does not include proteins so there is likely a smaller chance of developing swelling or an allergic reaction.
Without the presence of proteins, patients using Xeomin may recover faster than those receiving Botox or Dysport treatments.
