Item Description
Title & Artist: "Codfish Panorama, Abbot Hall" – by Sheila Farren Billings
Medium & Size: Acrylic paint on wood. 21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D. For indoor display only.
Artist Statement: Marblehead has so many lovely scenic views. This year's codfish was inspired by idyllic summer afternoons spent enjoying the cool air at Chandler Hovey Park, looking across the water at Abbot Hall. Codfish Panorama, Abbot Hall was done in the same quick, vibrant, en plein air style I used for my painting Serenity, which depicts an abbreviated version of the same view and won the People's Choice award at the Festival several years ago. Abbot Hall and the Marblehead Festival of Arts are inseparable in my mind!
Artist Biography: Sheila Farren Billings is an award-winning local artist and the author/illustrator of four published children's books. She just finished illustrating a fifth book for author Virginia Frazier of Beverly, MA. Sheila's work has been featured in shows and galleries around the North Shore. Her style is straightforward: clean lines, true colors, and upbeat messages.
Sheila grew up in a family of artists who inspired her creativity and encouraged her to experiment with various mediums and styles. During nice weather, she loves to paint on location in acrylics or watercolor. In stormy weather, Sheila delights in doing more fanciful projects in her studio, including cut-paper designs, brilliantly colored abstracts, children's illustrations, and Celtic-inspired drawings. She also enjoys designing logos and creating murals, both public and for private homes and businesses.
Sheila loves to work with her clients to create custom artwork with them. She finds that working within the constraints of their color, size, and budget preferences awakens her creativity. She hopes this Codfish brings as much happiness to your heart as it has to hers!
Hosting Business: "Codfish Panorama, Abbot Hall" is on display at Irresistibles, 39 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA.
