Item Description
For lovers of plants, gardens and nature: TWO classes at the venerable Theodore Payne Foundation in Sun Valley. You and a guest will learn the basics of gardening with native plants, and then create a plan for your new native gardens!
The winning bidder + guest will attend both our California Native Plant Horticulture class (one four-hour fact-filled session) and Three-Part Native Garden Design Course (three four-hour sessions on separate days). Classes are geared toward home gardeners and taught by TPF staff and talented landscape professionals.
The non-profit Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants, established 1960, is dedicated to promoting the use of California native plants and is one of Southern California's oldest environmental organizations. Our education center, retail native plant nursery, seed store, book store, demonstration gardens and hiking trail are open year round to the public and located on 22 acres of rustic canyon land in the NE corner of the San Fernando Valley. No admission charge; kids and friendly on-leash dogs are welcome!
Native plant gardens are colorful, fragrant and naturally adapted to our climates and soils. They also conserve water, need little to no fertilizers or pesticides, and support local wildlife, including birds, butterflies, bees and other pollinators. Grow local. Plant native!
