Title & Artist: "The Clay Cod" – by Kirsten Bassion
Medium & Size: White stoneware, cone 6 oxidation. 20 3/4" L x 8 1/2" H x 1 3/4" D. For indoor or outdoor display.
Artist Statement: As an artist who works in clay and who mainly focuses on functional work for the dining table or kitchen, I always find it fun to get out of my routine and to make a codfish for this auction to support the Marblehead Festival of Arts! I have been showing work in this festival since I was a child growing up here in town. And a few years ago I was even one of the judges!
Artist Biography: Kirsten Bassion received her MFA in Ceramics from The School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology in 2004. Before that she graduated from Skidmore College in 1997.
Kirsten is the owner of The Clay School in Lynn, MA, where for the last 12 years she has been making her own work and teaching classes for both adults and children. During the year, The Clay School offers more than 10 classes a week. It has grown into a wonderful and creative place for North Shore residents to experience the artistic side of ceramics.
Kirsten's work is shown in galleries throughout the country.
Hosting Business: "The Clay Cod" is on display at Three Cod Tavern, 141 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA.
