Item Description
Summer Programs at SPS always strive to create a dynamic and engaging experience for the students. With a focus on hands-on activities & lessons, positive social engagement, and free exploration at all ages, Summer Programs at SPS embrace the fact that learning and fun can happen at the same time! Our youngest students enjoy a varied and thoughtfully planned day through our Themed Enrichment Weeks that allow them to get a taste of many different classes (science, foreign language, drama, history, sports, cooking) inspired by the weekly theme. These themes help to guide the overall experience and allow for natural connection across disciplines even in the youngest child. As students reach First Grade, they have the choice to stick with Themed Enrichment Weeks or find a more specific interest through our Specialty Programs. Specialty Programs are geared towards either First and Second Grade or Third - Fifth Grade and encourage students to dive into a subject or area of interest for the week. With topics spanning all subjects and interests, students work with interested peers through experiential learning and collaborative projects each week. All staff with Summer Programs at SPS are experienced educators with a passion for creating unique and rewarding experiences for all students. And NEW THIS YEAR, students entering Sixth - Ninth Grade will have the opportunity to join our Leaders In Training Program. This program will utilize strategic self-planning, daily meetings, and hands-on experience to cultivate a strong skill set in working within an educational program setting. Selected through an application process, these Leaders In Training will truly become an integral part of the Summer Programs at SPS. Running June 19 through August 25, we offer programming 8 AM to 4 PM daily with before and after care available for an additional fee.
