Item Description
Enjoy two New Hampshire gems (your guide and the town!) Tour Hancock with author Howard Mansfield: Main Street Patterns -- Meetinghouse, Footpaths, Curtain and Clock.
You’ll look at the small details that make up this National Register historic district, hear from one of the lead architects about the recent, extensive meetinghouse restoration, and the cleaning and re-hanging of the town’s painted theater curtain from 1923. You'll also climb up into the tower to wind the town’s 1872 clock with the “Agent of the Clock.” And finally poke into a bit of forgotten history: A dusty village’s big-city aspirations in 1896 to remake the commons into something like Central Park. Lunch after at Fiddleheads, on the porch, weather permitting. For up to six. Schedule: Mutually-agreed to time in early fall, 2017.
