Item Description
Title & Artist: "AmeriCODa" – by Julie McCarthy
Medium & Size: Stain, acrylic, ink, shellac, and metal pins on wood. 21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D. For indoor display only.
Artist Statement: I'm drawn to the more simple style of creating—choosing my subject or content and allowing the art to speak for itself. I enjoy making art that the viewer can relate to or make a personal connection with. Whatever the subject matter, I want the overall message and feeling of the piece to be conveyed clearly and evoke emotion.
Artist Biography: Julie McCarthy has been an art teacher for almost 15 years. She earned her B.A. in Art Education from Kent State University and master's degree in Special Education from Lesley University. Julie continually takes courses at Salem State University in Visual Art to keep up to date on new styles and techniques.
Julie currently teaches grades 4–6 at the Marblehead Village School, where she participates in many art exhibits at the local and state level. When she is not teaching, Julie enjoys spending time with her husband Michael and two children.
Hosting Business: "AmeriCODa" is on display at Shoe Galley, 46 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA.
