Item Description
Thinking of becoming a lawyer or working in the criminal justice field then “Shadow” Probation Officer Bravo, a Lane Tech parent at Juvenile Court.
Learn how a Probation Officer prepares for court. Take a tour of the Juvenile Court building. Accompany P.O. Bravo to court and meet the people who work in a courtroom and learn their job duties. Sit in court and witness real live cases where life changing decisions are made. Learn about the programs available that service Juvenile Court wards.
Finish the experience by having a question and answer session with PO Bravo during lunch at Subway. (Expect to finish lunch around 1:00 P.M., also option of eating at Subway or returning to Juvenile Court to eat lunch). A Subway gift card is included for this activity.
Student will be asked to adhere to the strictest level of confidentiality as it pertains to the court proceedings.
Date must be mutually agreed upon and arranged in advance. (Wednesdays are a preferred court day)
Job shadowing is an effective and efficient way for a high school junior or senior to gather information when choosing colleges, college programs, and majors!
Item Special Note
Arrive at Cook County Juvenile Court at 9:00 A.M., located at 1100 S. Hamilton Ave., Chicago, Illinois.
CTA Blue Line nearby for public transportation (10 minute walk to building or catch the shuttle bus at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County) or a parking garage is available across the street from Juvenile Court for a fee $2.00 (all day parking).
You will be screened at the entrance of Juvenile Court and will walk through a metal detector and possibly submit to a metal detector wand screen. No weapons or items that may be considered a weapon are allowed in Juvenile Court. (i.e. pocket knives, nail files, etc.)
Business attire required.
