Item Description
Title & Artist: "K.C. at the Dragon Gate" – by Kathy Stewart
Medium & Size: Acrylic and metallic paint with an acrylic sealer on wood. 21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D. For indoor display only.
Artist Statement: After thinking about a theme for this year's cod, I decided to create a piece that had personal meaning, and so K.C. (aka Koi Cod) was born. Koi are powerful and energetic fish that swim upstream against the currents. They have perseverance and courage. They are a symbol of good luck and success. What could be more auspicious than creating a Koi Cod? I hope that K.C. at the Dragon Gate brings you a bit of magic and luck.
Artist Biography: I have been an Art teacher at Brookwood School for twenty years. I am an artist, a maker, a collector, and a person who loves to play. I am inspired by the children I teach, as well as nature, things that I read, and my family.
I feel that I am always learning—and hopefully growing.
Hosting Business: "K.C. at the Dragon Gate" is on display at National Grand Bank, 91 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA. On July 1, this cod will be moved to Abbot Hall, 188 Washington St., Marblehead, MA.
