Artist Inspiration:

When Mary was 9 and 10 she spent one week a year out in the country on the farm of her families “egg lady”. It was a week of escape into quiet and peace. They had cows, chickens, pigs, ducks and 2 sheep which inspired this piece.

Artist Bio:

I loved to play around with art as a child but shifted to science when I won an engineering scholarship to Purdue. With a BS in Physics in hand, I spent 40 years in the computer industry from programmer to systems person to databases to web design and graphics.

The art was shelved as my jobs in the computer field demanded more of my attention as well as raising a family. Several years before I retired, I graduated from Botanical Art and Illustration Program at Denver Botanic Gardens. I continued doing botanical art until it became difficult for me to do detail work. A friend talked me into to taking classes at Park Hill Art Club. I am now an oil painter and paint primarily cats: whimsical, abstract, and realistic.

I have 5 cats: 2 blind cats, one 3 ½ legged cat, two somewhat normal cats. I am passionate about taking care of shelter cats; my other passion is painting cats.
