Item Description

Title & Artist:  "Great Day to Go Sailing" – by Peggy A. Farrell

Medium & Size:  Photographic print on wood.  21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D.  For indoor display only.

Artist Statement:  I am a landscape and seascape photographer. The North Shore area gives the photographer a wealth of opportunities to use the craft—from the sun rising over our harbor to the changing colors of the fall. No matter the time, day of week, or season, I enjoy trying to capture that one moment in time with my camera.

Artist Biography:  An early retirement prompted Peggy to start a new career as an aspiring artist. While taking art lessons, she met Bob Sinclair, an accomplished photographer, who re-animated her interest in photography. Bob introduced Peggy to the world of thirds and composition—how to "create" a scene, as opposed to just taking a photograph.

Now the main body of Peggy's work is landscape photography. No matter the weather, she can be seen outside trying to catch that perfect sunrise or storm cloud. Since her favorite scenes are the ocean and coastal landscapes, living in Marblehead has only intensified her passion for outdoor photography.

Peggy has exhibited in many North Shore and New Hampshire art shows and is the winner of several awards. She is Secretary of the Swampscott Arts Association and a member of the Marblehead Arts Association and Salem Arts Association. She is a past member of the Greater Lynn Arts and Crafts Society and a past board member of the Marblehead Festival of Arts. Peggy also belongs to Little Harbor Studios & Gallery in Marblehead.

Hosting Business:  "Great Day to Go Sailing" is on display at Terry's Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Shop, 22A Atlantic Ave., Marblehead, MA.
