Are you interested in learning about Southern California geology and exploring local tide pools? Join Heather at Leo Carrillo State Beach for a sunset adventure this fall!

CEC Whales parent, Heather Kokorowski, has a Master of Science in geology and has been teaching oceanography and geology for 10 years. She is currently a professor at Pierce College, and takes her students to Leo Carrillo and other local beaches on field trips to view and explore coastal features, processes, and habitats.

On your private field trip, you will learn about southern California geology, and you will search for tide pool organisms in the rocky intertidal zone of Leo Carrillo as the sun begins to set on the horizon. Prepare to see sea snails, sea anemones, sea stars, sea urchins, hermit crabs, tide pool fish, sea hares and sea slugs, and maybe even the elusive octopus! We will explore the coastal rocks and landforms, and even climb through a tunnel in a sea cave to watch the sunset from a small cove! This is a family-friendly activity where all members of the family are encouraged to participate.

The event will be 4.30 - 6.30 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Leo Carrilo State Beach (35000 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265).

Item Special Note

Must provide own transportation to Leo Carrillo. Dress in layers, and bring water shoes. The event will occur rain or shine, so dress accordingly.

Details about Pick-Up/Shipping/Sales Tax and The Fine Print:
Items must be picked up from the CEC (140 Foothill Blvd, La Canada, CA 91011) from Wednesday, June 7 to Friday, June 9 between 3:30 - 6:30 pm, otherwise shipping fees will be assessed and charged to the purchaser. If you are an out of state bidder or a bidder not local to Los Angeles, and would like your item shipped to you, please use the “Ask a question about this item” link above to provide your shipping address so that we can give you a more accurate shipping estimate. Gift certificates will be mailed without a shipping fee. The CEC accepts no responsibility for items and gift cards lost, damaged, or misdirected in the mail.
