by Artists from
Saratoga Bridges’ Creative Endeavors Art Program
Special thanks to Sue Williams - mixed media and collage artist (see bio here)
Saratoga Bridges believes it is essential to evolve, reshape and develop innovative programmatic designs in order to meet the needs of people with differing demographics. It has been our objective to refine how we can best offer more person-centered activities based on their interests.
One such initiative has been our Creative Endeavors Arts Center. What began in 2004 as a small group of individuals who wanted to explore fine arts has grown tremendously. Initially just painting and drawing classes were offered; however, we soon recognized the importance of having artistic opportunities available and decided to step outside our conventional way of providing services. In 2007, Creative Endeavors Arts Center opened at 49 Front Street in Ballston Spa and was designed to truly be a part of the community art scene. Since then, we have seen innumerable success stories.
As a result, we continue to incorporate more mediums into our repertoire based on the interests of our artists. We hire professional artists from the community to give more creative experiences to people who attend our Day Programs. For some, it is the first time in their lives they are engaging in these types of classes. They soon discover untapped talents, gain another avenue of expression, increase creative potential, enhance overall abilities, improve self-esteem and expand communication skills. By participating in art events and exhibits, they interact with the public and discuss their processes.
Additionally, our artists have taken what they have learned and now teach others at Creative Endeavors Arts Center, in schools and in the community. They are breaking down barriers in an organic way of incorporating mutual appreciation and shared interests which allow us to give back to the community that has welcomed and embraced us. By presenting creative experiences in an integrated setting for people with and without disabilities, we raise awareness and promote positive perceptions for our artists!
