Item Description
Title & Artist: "The Pescatarian" – by Mary Herchenhahn
Medium & Size: Pen and ink on wood. 21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D. For indoor display only.
Artist Statement: I read a blurb in the Boston Globe about the legendary monsters of New England, and it mentioned the Gloucester Sea Serpent. I knew I had to draw it! I couldn't find any accounts of its disposition, but I like to imagine that it's friendly. Like a lot of us, it just wants to eat fish and hang out in the water!
Artist Biography: Mary Herchenhahn teaches visual arts at the Coffin and Gerry schools in Marblehead. She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and Boston University. She can often be found riding her bicycle around the beautiful North Shore.
Hosting Business: "The Pescatarian" is on display at Spirit of '76 Bookstore, 107 Pleasant St., Marblehead, MA.
