Item Description
Win a guided fly fishing trip for striped bass this summer.
Your guide will be Sam Adams, Gould ’77, P’18. He will be genial and sympathetic but entirely unable to disguise his pathological love for chasing striped bass in the surf with a fly.
Fishing will be off a beautiful private-access beach in Small Point, Maine. Fishing at this location has been exceptional the last few years, with two fish caught on the fly that approached the IGFA world record. Conditions favor sight-casting to multiple fish in gin-clear water from mid-to-late June through August.
Open to experienced fly fishers and rank beginners alike. Enthusiasm and a penchant for adventure are all that are required.
Item Special Note
All fly fishing gear will be provided or you can use your own if you prefer. Terms of this auction item are:
- 1 guided trip on any day between June 15 and August 31st, subject to mutual availability.
- Trip starts at sun-up and concludes at 1:00 pm, unless the fishing is crazy-good then…whenever.
- All gear and flies provided.
- Catch-and-release ONLY.
- It’s Maine—the water will be COLD and you will be standing in it. We’ll sort out what you need to wear.
- Coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and fishing smack-talk will be provided, followed by lunch and bragging after the trip.
- You are welcome to bring a spouse/child/friend to watch or sit on the beach. Only one person can be guided though.
- This is a special place to fish so you will be sworn to secrecy!
