Item Description

Title & Artist:  "To the Point" – by Tali Minelli

Medium & Size:  Nails on wood.  21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D.  For indoor display only.

Artist Statement:  Inspired by a weaving assignment explored by my students this spring, I started creating my cod loom, hammering nails as anchors for my warp threads. The intention was to later add strips of fabric and yarn to create a textured weave that would clothe the wooden cod. The more nails I added, the more I liked the raw look of nails and wood. As in life, sometimes the idea you start out with evolves into something new and unexpected!

Artist Biography:  Tali Marcus Minelli was born in Jerusalem, Israel. She came to the United States as a child with her family for a sabbatical. As these things happen, the planned year turned into five, and while the rest of the family returned to Israel, Tali remained in the U.S. to complete her B.S. in Graphic Design at the University of Cincinnati. There, she met her husband of 29 years, Mark Minelli. After graduation, they relocated to the Boston area to pursue their careers in Graphic Design, and then moved up the coast to Marblehead to start a family.

Today, Tali is the proud mother of three grown children—Ari, Maia, and Noa. She is the founder and primary instructor at ThinkArt and is a published author of a children’s art activity book. Tali divides her time between family, work with her husband at his mission-driven Boston firm, Minelli Inc., and mentoring students at ThinkArt, her art studio in Marblehead.
