Item Description

Title & Artist:  "Fins & Pins, Scales & Tails" – by Jennifer Groeber

Medium & Size:  Collaged papers, gold paint marker, brass pins, and polyacrylic on wood.  21 7/8" L x 8 5/8" H x 3/4" D.  For indoor display only.

Artist Statement:  Whether working in painting, collage, or printmaking, Groeber's art focuses on identity and the friction that exists between the surface of our experiences and our complex pasts. In "Fins & Pins, Scales and Tails," Groeber painstakingly collages layer upon layer of gold-tipped paper scales in whimsical patterns that act as evidence of this fanciful cod’s history. Brass brads and layers of smooth varnish add to the rich surface display.

She graduated from Yale University with a BA in Painting/Printmaking and received an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art.
