"The Heart Behind Sky Ball":   "There is no event like it in the country...."

"The American Airlines Sky Ball is the premier fundraising event for one of the oldest military support organizations in the US, the Airpower Foundation which was formed by the Fort Worth Airpower Council. Sky Ball has allowed the Airpower Foundation to contribute solely to funding projects that directly support the members and families of all branches of our military, veterans and wounded, ill, or injured service members and their families. Last year, Sky Ball raised more than $2.6 million to support our military through contingency funds at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base and other military support organizations mentioned below.

The Airpower Foundation was founded to be a nationwide 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting active duty, reserve and National Guard families. The direct donations and sponsorships help support the children of our fallen military heroes, projects such as helping amputee and burn survivors transition to civilian life, providing advanced technology “smart” homes to severely wounded service members through our support of the Gary Sinise Foundation, kayak fishing expeditions for physically and emotionally challenged veterans, and so much more."

Constituting America is so very proud of Gary Sinise and the work he is doing for America and for our veterans! He also gives his time to meet with our contest winners of Constituting America and offer them encouragement, direction and inspiration.  We honor him and have immense gratitude for his friendship and support of Constituting America!

We are especially excited to have The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport as a presenting sponsor for this marquee event. The DFW Airport has long been a gateway for those that serve in the Armed Forces of the United States and their families and as the home for American Airlines Sky Ball, DFW will continue to serve as an ambassador in support of those whose sacrifice reminds us every day that Freedom is not Free.

"Our Relief & Resiliency Outreach now includes a mentorship program that unites post-9/11 wounded heroes with wounded veterans from the Vietnam and Korean Wars for a seven-day retreat. High school students are now accompanying our WWII veterans in the Soaring Valor experience to learn history firsthand from The Greatest Generation. And our R.I.S.E. initiatives have only continued to grow. Since Gary's early involvement in 2010 through the Foundation's work to-date, 59 specially adapted smart homes are now complete or underway for severely wounded heroes across America."

"Sinise is a supporter of various veterans' organizations, both personally and through the Lt. Dan Band. He frequently performs on USO tours at military bases around the world, and volunteered for the National Vietnam Veterans Arts Museum now called the National Veterans Art Museum. On June 8, 2011, he put on a space suit to become one of the few people to fly in a U-2 spy plane up to 70,000 feet.[20] Sinise is also on the Advisory Council of Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to provide a full cycle of nonmedical care to combat-wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen from each military branch.[21] In December 2011, Sinise was the narrator at the Candelight Processional at Disneyland. In August 2012, Sinise was honored at the United States Navy Memorial, by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Rick West, and was made an honorary U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer for his efforts in helping veterans.[22] On August 29, 2013, he was named an honorary Marine by the Commandant of the Marine Corps.[23][24] In 2006, Sinise began co-hosting the National Memorial Day Concert on the Mall in Washington, D.C., with actor and Illinois native Joe Mantegna.[25] He serves as the national spokesperson for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial and spends much of his time raising awareness for the memorial and other veterans' service organizations.[26] In 2012, he was honored by the Joe Foss Institute for his dedication to veterans. In 2013, he was awarded the third highest honor within the Department of the Army Civilian Awards, the Outstanding Civilian Service Award, for substantial contributions to the U.S. Army community through his work with the Gary Sinise Foundation. He participated in Troopathon VI for 2013, as he has in the past, to help raise money for care packages for American troops.[27] He received 2015's Sylvanus Thayer Award, awarded by the West Point Association of Graduates to a civilian whose character, service, and achievements reflect the ideals prized by the U.S. Military Academy."[28][29]
