A renowned sculptor, Fr. Collins specializes in public art, large outdoor sculpture, installation art, and liturgical art. The theme of his creative work often deals with political and social issues.
Combining his love for art with his love for Notre Dame, Fr. Collins joined Notre Dame’s Department of Art, Art History and Design faculty as an assistant professor in autumn 1985. In 1992, he was promoted to associate professor with tenure. From 1997 to 2003, Fr. Collins served as department chair of the program, and in 2005, he was made full professor.
Fr. Collins’ work has been featured in more than 100 exhibitions across the country, including exhibitions at Northwestern University, the University of Tennessee, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia. His art can be found in 65 private and public collections.
