Item Description
Susan O'Brien McLean started painting while she lived overseas in South Africa and England in the 1970s and 1980s. Her work has been exhibited in London at the Institute of Painters in Watercolors, the Pastel Society and the World Portrait Society. She has lived on Cape Cod for the past 25 years and was elected a Copley Artist in 1994 and also elected "Master Artist" at the Cape Cod Art Association. Among many awards over the years, she received a prestigious Grumbacker Gold Metal in 1997. Two of her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis. She prefers painting from life, be it figures, still life, portraits or landscapes depicting the beauty of the Cape. Susan has participated in many plein air events at the Copley Society of Boston, the Cahoon Museum "Brush Off" and CCMoA's Annual Art Auction since 1991. She paints in oil, watercolor and pastel.
