Item Description
A tisket, a tasket, and flock of hand-knit birds in a basket! This whimsical collection of fiber arts feathered friends is sure to bring joy to your friends and family, especially little ones! Each bird is knit using a pattern from the included book, Field Guide to Knitted Birds by Arne & Carlos.
Bundled together in a simple basket (a thrift find!), these birds have spunk like you wouldn't believe. Plus, four bonus "rug mugs" are included to protect your table from the cup of coffee you're sipping as you page through the Field Guide looking for more birdies to add to your collection.
These little friends are handknit with love by Allen Holtzhueter, fiber artist and instructor at North House Folk School. Allen has been knitting since the 1980s with an interest in multicolor knitting techniques. He has focused on the knitting traditions of Northern Europe and the British Isles, and has taught traditional Scandinavian, Fair Isle and Latvian projects using the multicolor technique. Allen has expanded on his fiber interests to include spinning his own knitting yarns on one of his several spinning wheels. Allen lives in Madison where he divides his time among knitting and spinning projects - and spoiling the family Greyhounds.
