Item Description
Calling the Cape home since 1983, Ms. Packer works privately from her Bass River studio, surrounded by unruly gardens and the light from the river. Art has always been an integral part of her life. She grew up painting and drawing with her father, an artist and noted NY illustrator. More recently Packer has taken the energy shown in the early still life oil paintings and transferred this to white-line woodcuts. “Red Sails w/ Tulips” is a prime example showing the use of vibrant colors and strong sense of design. “Very lovely and technically superb white-line woodcuts. The Provincetown print tradition lives on.” Packer was the first Director of the Cape Cod Museum of Art, is a member of the collective known as 21 in Truro, was a founding trustee of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, her works are included in museum collections and she teaches the white-line process.
