Item Description
Richard Ogden Perry has explored relief since 1975, in New York City and then on Cape Cod. He graduated Brown University (BS-AB chemistry/philosophy), Pennsylvania University (LLB), then moved into a loft on the Lower East Side of New York City in 1970, studying photography, drawing, painting and sculpture at the Art Students League, the New School and Brooklyn Museum. His interest in relief was inspired by Egyptian reliefs at the Met and extensive reading at Flower 5th Avenue Hospital Library about visual perception. Richard’s reliefs combine elements of painting and sculpture to create 3 dimensional "holographic" illusions which change in appearance as the viewer moved and as the light on the reliefs change. His reliefs are currently exhibited in the Boston Museum of Science and Cape Cod Museum of Art. He exhibits and sells his work at his 1772 Main Street Brewster gallery and the Art House, St. Ives, UK.
