Item Description
This striking pair of limited edition photograph prints by Stone Zhu from will add bold color and statement to any space.
Entitled "Tattoo" and "Wing", both prints are from Zhu's This is Red series, inspired by traditional Chinese art. Both are printed on 12" x 16" Museum Rag Velvet Matte Fine Art Paper and are framed. Each belong to an edition of 8.
About the Artist
Stone Zhu is a New York City based artist who focuses on Fashion Photographty, particularly portraits. His work can be seen in major fashion publications, most recently including Vogue Italia (see links to his personal site and instagram page below for images of past and current work).
Growing up in China, Zhu's sense of himself as well as his aesthetics were deeply informed by traditional cultural values and art. He finds inspiration from the meditative, introspective, modest, and moody qualities, and the strong reds, blacks, and whites that fill Chinese artworks, architecture and sculpture. In contrast, Zhu's experience of Western culture revealed a frenetic, open, and random quality that was foreign to his sensibilities when he first came to the US. He discovered a culture where the body is regarded as sensuality, idealism, and erotic fantasy. His photographic practice has become a blend of these disparate and distinct cultures: while boldly employing formal qualities of Chinese art, Zhu explores a fascination with the body as an object of beauty and desire.
