Ernie Bjorkman has been a broadcast journalist for more than 40 years. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in broadcast journalism in 1972, his career took him to West Palm Beach and Atlanta. In 1982, he came to Denver where he found his home.
Ernie first worked at KMGH-TV before moving to KWGN-TV as main anchor and managing editor. He has won numerous journalistic awards and he has covered all the biggest stories in the Denver market for 27 years until a forced retirement in 2009.
For the past 8 years, Ernie has been busy traveling the world and following a wide variety of pursuits. He went back to college and became a certified veterinary technician for several years. After traveling Europe following their Peace Corp service, Ernie and his wife Sue returned to his hometown of St. Augustine, Florida.
When the opportunity came to return to KWGN-TV as the morning news anchor on Day Break, Ernie was willing to set sail back to Denver and is ecstatic to be home again and doing what he loves. Ernie is a long time cat lover and has been a supporter of Cat Care Society for many years. He served as emcee at our Annual Dinner in 2008.
