Item Description
Cian Noone (pronounced Key-an) started rowing in 2008 with Neptune Rowing Club as a junior, where he was fortunate enough to have great coaching from John Holland, a former Rowing Ireland coach who retired and decided to come back to his old club to coach the junior men’s squad. He competed for the club for four years in just about every type of boat before heading to Queens University Belfast for college, where he competed for two seasons but unfortunately was forced to stop due a shoulder injury from his younger days as a rugby player. Despite this, Cian always wanted to try coaching and went back to Neptune in the spring of 2015 where he began coaching the junior men. He travelled between Belfast and Dublin for the rest of his degree so he could continue coaching the junior men and stayed in Neptune until January of 2016. Shortly thereafter he began coaching at Trinity College Dublin where he took over the Novice Women’s squad for the remainder of the 2016 season. His team had successes in the Novice 8, winning both the Queens’ University Boat Race and the Irish Rowing Championships. Cian then began work as an assistant coach for the women’s intermediate and senior squads for the 2016/17 season. Currently, Cian is coaching at Arlington-Belmont and Riverside Boat Club.
