Item Description

Handmade by two well-known local dulcimer makers – Ron Eversole of Mishawaka and John Frazier of South Bend. Ron Eversole was originally from Hazard, KY. In 1958, he began making dulcimers under the tutelage of Kentucky’s leading dulcimer maker, Homer Ledford. Ron’s first dulcimer was a wedding gift to his wife Nancy. The patterns he used were the original dulcimers that Nancy's family had been making since 1870. In 1968 Ron and his family moved from Kentucky to Mishawaka, IN. He was well-known for the dulcimers that he sold at many of the local festivals.

The dulcimer for sale here was started by Ron Eversole in 1988. However, he died in 1989, leaving it unfinished. In 2016 Ron’s very good friend and fellow dulcimer maker, John Frazier, completed it, adding his special touches like rosewood pegs and the final finish. Almost 30 years in the making, this dulcimer is indeed a treasure. Included with the dulcimer is an instruction book and a CD by Ron’s wife Nancy, who sang in the area as the “Kentucky Woman.” Nancy made the soft case for the dulcimer.
