Item Description

This photo was featured in a gallery exhibit in 2015, and appears in the book, "Art of Intuitive Photography” (Balboa Press, 2016). Totems like these, also known as cairns, are often found at trail heads or on the shore to mark the departure point for a journey.

According to the artist, "this totem, found on the shores of Kachemak Bay in Alaska, appealed to my sense of anachronism between nature and humans. Consisting entirely of natural materials, it was constructed by a human. The colors of the gray stone against the water-logged wood were what initially caught my eye. I hope this beauty bode well for the mariner who left it."

The professionally-framed 14" x 11" print measures a total of 18" x 15", including the complementary-colored matting and a 1" black wood frame.
