Elizabeth Lind, an award-winning artist, grew up in NYC, absorbing its rich fine arts culture. Eventually relocating to RI, she earned her master’s degree from RISD while also managing an art gallery. She has maintained a busy carving studio for over 20 years, where she creates life-size figures of women and their environments – either real or imagined. She travels to Italy, researching sites rich in ancient female artifacts, mythology, and history. She is a frequent exhibitor at the AAM and was recently one of the featured artists in the 8 Visions exhibition.
“Sometimes I feel like a little boat slipping out to sea...” is a one of a kind terra cotta self-portrait sculpture, depicting a sea siren reading in a Viking boat. This piece is a humorous fantasy expression of allowing oneself to escape from reality. It is an original, and not part of an edition.
