2016 was Abby’s 9th year creating the promotional illustrations for Attleboro's 1 Adventure, 1 Book, 1 Community initiative. The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears was the 2016 chosen text, and as always she was thrilled to take on the challenge of building a drawing to represent this novel.
Home can be defined in many ways… the place where one lives permanently or a place where one lives as a member of a family or household. Home is also more than just a place it is also an idea and a feeling of belonging, comfort and peace.
The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears main character, Sepha Stephanos, is struggling to find his sense of identity in his new setting of Washington DC. Sepha’s charcoal portrait represents him as a man ever searching for this connection - a universal feeling that we can all share in.
