Rosemarie Manson has been studying painting with C.C. Woolf at the EastSide Art Center in Providence, RI since retiring from a career in education. She has exhibited in numerous juried shows as a member of the RI Watercolor Society and the Attleboro Arts Museum where she received Juror’s Awards in 2015 & 2016. In addition, she has exhibited in member shows with the East Greenwich Art Club; The New Hope Art Gallery, Cranston, RI; and the Arnolds Mills Community House, Cumberland, RI.
As with most of her work, “Moonlight Sail” was evoked from what the paint was expressing. The artist created a background that was printed on sturdy rice paper using a Gelliplate and a variety of textures. The white areas became breaks in the dark night. The sails of the boats cast back the light of the moon.
