Item Description

Photography

28" x 42" x 2"

Alan Strassman’s work has been exhibited most recently in solo exhibits at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Newton Free Library.  His photographs are owned in private, corporate and museum collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Alan studied art history at Princeton and photography at the SMFA, Boston and the Maine Media Workshops.

“No Escape” is an example of the artist’s attraction to places and things that have been used, overlooked and abandoned. He photographs signs of wear and tear, fatigue and neglect that are symbols of passing time, lives lived and stories untold. Abandoned architecture, often a rich complex of line, form, texture and color that attracts the viewer’s eye can also evoke a complex emotional response.
