Item Description
Silverpoint on panel
6.5" x 8.5" x .5"
Diane Savino is a former art professor at Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA. She holds a MFA in painting from Vermont College of Norwich University. She is represented by Vermont Artisan Gallery, Brattleboro, VT. This year, her silverpoint work was featured at the Northampton Historical Museum, and she did a presentation on egg tempera for the Attleboro Arts Museum.
"The Small Cat” is a miniature piece executed in the archaic medium of silverpoint, which is created by a piece of silver in a type of mechanical pencil holder. These types of drawings were prized during the Renaissance. Over time, the drawing will oxidize, creating a darker patina.
