Item Description
This highly acclaimed compact disc, "Eclectic", was chosen by the New York Times and Tower Pulse Magazine as one of the "Ten Best Country Albums of the Year."
Gail Davies is an American singer/songwriter and the first female record producer in the history of country music. Gail is the daughter of country singer, Tex Dickerson, and the younger sister of songwriter, Ron Davies. Although she now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, Gail Davies grew up in Washington, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1966.
She has composed and/or produced several top hit singles, including, "Someone is Looking for Someone Like You," which has been recorded in several languages by such internationally known artists as Nana Moskouri, Susan McCann, George Hamilton IV, and The Country Gentlemen. Her landmark album, "The Game" featured a Top 10 single, "Blue Heartache", and two Top 20 hits, "Like Strangers" and "Good Lovin' Man". The title track reached No. 4 in Billboard followed by "It's a Lovely, Lovely Word" -- a duet with Emmylou Harris -- and Gail's own composition, "Grandma's Song". Gail was nominated for a CMA and ACMA Award in 1981 and honored by the DJs of America, who voted her Country music's "Best New Female Vocalist".
Gail Davis is now semi-retired, but she continues to tour, primarily in Europe. In 2009 she was named "Country Music International Ambassador"; and, in 2011 she released her autobiogrophy, "The Last of the Outlaws. In 2013 she released a new album, "Unsung Hero - A Tribute to the Music of Ron Davies," featuring Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Shelby Lynne, John Prine, Crystal Gayle, Jim Lauderdale and a host of others, with proceeds benefiting a music school and underprivileged children in need of musical instruments.
