Item Description

Ceramic

22" x 22" x 2.5"

Maureen Daniel-Ellis earned a BFA at California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, CA, late 1970s. specializing in ceramics. In collaboration with Bill Ellis, she experimented with the effects of airbrushed underglazes to delineate her abstract patterns, reminiscent of Art Deco designs. Their work was featured in several 1980s publications.  Maureen is still based CA.

Maureen Daniel-Ellis' airbrushed wall pieces are shaped from thin clay slabs rounded and torn to resemble layers of creamy handmade paper. Created in late 1980s, this 22 inch round ceramic piece was purchased by the Donors at the Signature Gallery in Boston in 1991 and affectionately titled “The Plate.”
