Item Description

Acrylic

14" x 18" x 1"

Gregory Sampl holds a BFA in graphic design from RISD and a Masters in Art Education from UMASS Dartmouth. He has worked in the fields of graphic design and typeface design, and spent over twenty years as a Cistercian (Trappist) monk. Presently, he teaches art in a small, Catholic high school on the South Coast. He shows his work locally.

“Chair, Shirt, and Window” was a sketch for a more focused piece in oil. It belies the influence of Andrew Wyeth early in his life, and showcases the quiet color and carefully-balanced composition of all Sampl’s work.
