Mark Wholey received a BFA in sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute. Graduated from Butera School of Art in Boston. Awaarded First Place, “Color” exhibit at Providence Art Club and has work in painting and sculpture throughout New England and central Italy. Current exhibitions include Bristol Art Museum, 195 Redevelopment Project, Providence and Flying Horse Sculpture Exhibit in S. Hamilton, MA.
“The Letter” is from a quick sketch of a man contemplating writing and being inspired by or responding to something in his hand. The location was an unheated Brussels train station. His body language transcends verbal communication and bridges cultural differences. Wholey kept the painting loose, corresponding with the freshness of the drawing.
