In "Waiting" you see four women. Perhaps they are all waiting for something or someone. The expressions in their eyes are accompanied by a feeling of happiness & anticipation. The soft colors enhancing the dreamlike effect. It seems like someone is about to arrive whom they are all waiting for. Mehr Jabeen mostly paints African women with baskets of fruit. This is because there is a common sight of women street vendors in west Africa. This painting is rendered in a mosaic style created by brush strokes – the artist’s signature style. Living in Africa in a multiracial society seems to have made an impact in this artist’s work. You see a blending of Asian & African art in the facial features & figures of the women.
