Item Description

Graphite on vellum

18" x 15" x 1"

Tim Elliott was born and raised in Franklin MA and now resides in Attleboro MA. He attended RISD and Syracuse University – majoring in Industrial Design. Tim works in a variety of media, his main tools of the trade currently are graphite, colored pencil, charcoal and washes. His work has recently been exhibited in the National Juried Show "Line" at the AAM where he has been a member for the past 5 years. His latest portrait "Spirited Soul" will soon be on display at the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative "Faces & Figures" exhibition in Pawtucket RI.

Inspired by the classic sculpture of David, Mr. Elliott was influenced by the subtle formation of the facial features and muscle structure to sketch “Head Study - Michelangelo's David.” His representation of the white marble statue in graphite lends to the luminescence of this sculptural limestone.  The chiseled interpretation of David's hair is also showcase for Mr. Elliott's attention to detail.
